The Florence Mayor and Board unanimously approved three invoices to Maintenance Systems, Inc. totaling $29,367.38 at their Aug. 19 meeting.
Alderman John Banks moved to approve invoice M25017-G-1F for $13,618.95 for exploratory digging and a 4" insertion valve; Alderman Mason Herrin seconded and the motion carried. The board then approved invoice M25017-H-1F for $8,281.27 for backflow preventer modifications (moved by Alderman Brian Grantham, seconded by Alderman Brent Sistrunk) and invoice M25017 I 1F for $7,467.16 for excavation and assistance with 6" and 12" insertion valves (moved by Alderman Mason Herrin, seconded by Alderman Kyle Martin). Each motion passed by a unanimous vote of the board members present.
The payments were described as repairs performed under the extraordinary terms and conditions of MSI's current contract with the city. The board did not request additional public discussion before approving the payments. The agenda listed maintenance and street-related items among department reports but provided no additional line-item detail beyond the invoice numbers and descriptions.
