The Florence Mayor and Board voted unanimously Oct. 7 to accept Community Bank's 4.00% lease‑purchase quote to finance new police vehicles, the lowest of four bids received. Chief Brad Burns recommended pursuing the financing during the regular meeting at City Hall.
Alderman Mason Herrin moved to approve the Community Bank offer, Alderman Grantham seconded, and the motion carried with Aldermen Grantham, Herrin, Martin and Sistrunk voting yes and Alderman Banks recorded as absent. The board also authorized Mayor Trey Gunn to execute the Lease Purchase Agreement with Community Bank pending review and approval by City Attorney Bobby Lingold.
Why it matters: The board compared four offers in the record—Community Bank at 4.00%, Copiah Bank 4.25%, Cadence Bank 4.84% and Trustmark Bank 5.45%—and selected the lowest rate to limit long‑term financing costs for the police fleet. The authorization to sign is conditioned on the city attorney’s approval of final documents.
