The Town of North Canaan Board of Finance on Sept. 10 approved routine financial items and accepted a package of proposed budget transfers, while referring one transfer that exceeds $20,000 to the Selectmen for placement on a town meeting agenda.
Treasurer Emily Minacci told the board that "There is 1 that is over $20,000 that has to go to town meeting." She handed out supporting information and reviewed the transfers, saying the moves are necessary to ensure municipal accounts are not overdrawn and to remain compliant. Following discussion, Mr. C. Allyn moved to accept the transfers; Mr. B. Allyn seconded and the motion carried.
After the board accepted the transfers, members voted to send them to the Selectmen for a town meeting. Christian Allyn said he still had questions and would compile them and email departments directly rather than holding up the motion. The board recorded that the transfer packet will go forward to the Selectmen, with no tally recorded beyond "motion carried."
