Residents raise ATV, street-lighting and pothole safety concerns at Port LaBelle CDD meeting

Two residents addressed the Board during public comment at the March 13 Port LaBelle CDD meeting with safety concerns. Mr. Cochrane asked whether the district could provide signage to prohibit ATVs on greenbelts and private property; staff said signage has been placed at a few locations and recommended contacting the sheriff for enforcement. Mr. Gonzalez said street lighting and school-bus stop areas were not safe for children and reported potholes on Cherry Lane; General Manager Judi Kennington-Korf said lighting and bus-stop responsibility rests with the county and that Cherry Lane potholes resulted from work by the Port LaBelle Utility System and will be addressed by that department.
Board members did not take formal action during public comment but directed staff to provide contact information for the appropriate county department and the district street-light policy. Residents were advised to call law enforcement for immediate ATV or suspicious activity concerns.
