A resident raised concerns that marketing and regional development efforts are driving a push for more airline service that could increase aircraft noise and traffic through Bellevue. "The marketing efforts within the valley in conjunction with the airport are planning for a very large increase in airline traffic," the resident said, urging inclusion of Bellevue in air-service conversations.
The airport director responded that the airport operates under a joint powers agreement and that Fly Sun Valley Alliance handles marketing and air-service efforts, not airport staff. The director emphasized federal oversight: "Every square inch of airspace of The United States is owned exclusively and controlled by the Federal Aviation Administration," and said the airport is at or near capacity with only limited gate/slot opportunities, making large-scale growth difficult without major, costly changes.
