New multi-agency Midcoast coordination effort aims to align projects; consultant to report back

Consultant Charles Gardner briefed the Midcoast Community Council on an interagency coordination effort that began with a March convening of agencies involved in Midcoast projects. Gardner said the groups early work is to create an organizational framework so participating agencies can coordinate outreach, avoid conflicting public meetings and explore joint funding opportunities.
"There's been good progress in setting some structure in," Gardner said, noting the group plans a small working meeting on Aug. 6 to refine an agenda and a full-group meeting thereafter. Council members asked for clarity on facilitation, administrative support and whether an independent facilitator should continue to help stabilize the group. Gardner and others said the group is discussing rotating leadership roles and identifying a single administrative point for scheduling and record-keeping to avoid lost follow-ups.
The council asked the consultant to provide a short written summary after the Aug. 6 small-group meeting describing accomplishments to date, suggested framework and any recommended facilitation or staffing needs. That summary will inform MCC input on whether to continue consultant support or to move coordination into a rotating-agency model.
