The Port LaBelle board on July 24 authorized General Manager Judi Kennington-Korf to conduct business and act as a signatory on behalf of the district, updating signatory authorization that had not been refreshed in 11 years. The motion passed after Chairman Martinez and Supervisor Imhoff moved and seconded the authorization.
The board also reviewed county mowing agreements and directed the General Manager and District Attorney to negotiate new contracts with Glades and Hendry counties. Kennington-Korf said the Glades agreement runs five years (2020–25) and Hendry a three-year term (2022–25), both set to expire Sept. 30, 2025; the board asked negotiators to seek a reasonable increase reflecting actual service costs and to limit any new agreement to a maximum three-year term. Kennington-Korf additionally received permission to explore alternate IT vendors because of ongoing service issues.
