Council appoints mayor to Mountain Rides board after longtime member shifts seats

The Bellevue Common Council approved resolution 25-24 on Dec. 8 to fill the city’s seat on the Mountain Rides Transportation Authority board after Tom Blanchard resigned the Bellevue-designated seat and moved to an at-large position. The mayor was appointed to the Bellevue seat for a three-year term.
Tom Blanchard, who identified himself and described roughly 16 years of service on the board, urged support for continued Bellevue representation. "Mountain Rides is one of the key organizations in knitting this valley together," Blanchard said, noting free service expansions and an anchor operation in Bellevue, including a recent $6,500,000 expansion of operations there. Council members thanked Blanchard for his service. The motion to appoint was moved and seconded and passed by roll call with one abstention recorded.
