Matt Fletcher and Kyla Walters told the Board the Owensville Skate Park Committee wants the city to apply for the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which offers grants up to $500,000 but requires a 50% local match and proof that the project budget is secured.
The committee reported $29,630 in its fundraising account and said it is planning additional fundraising events. Alderman Dan Breeden and the City Administrator advised the committee to raise more of the required match before the city pursues the LWCF application, noting the City lacks internal staff capacity for full grant preparation and would need to use MRPC grant-writing hours or bill for additional hours if municipal staff time is insufficient.
