The Florence board on Sept. 16, 2025 authorized City Engineer Tim Parker to submit applications to the Central Mississippi Planning & Development District and to the Mississippi Department of Transportation for a Transportation Alternatives Williams Road Sidewalk and Pedestrian Bridge Project. The board also adopted a resolution committing a 20% local match if the project is selected. The motions were carried unanimously.
Alderman Brian Grantham moved adoption of the 20% match resolution, seconded by Alderman John Banks; recorded votes show all five aldermen voting Aye. The meeting minutes do not include the proposed project cost or an estimated construction timeline; further details would be in the grant application and associated engineering documents.
