The Florence mayor and board adopted a resolution on Sept. 2 setting the city's fiscal year 2026 tax levy at 31.2 mills on all real and personal property. Alderman Brian Grantham moved to adopt the resolution and Alderman John Banks seconded; Aldermen John Banks, Brian Grantham, Mason Herrin, Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk voted aye.
The resolution directs that 14.28% of the levy be allocated to debt service. The action was recorded as part of routine budget and levy adoption during the regular meeting; no public comments were made during the preceding public hearing on the city's proposed budget and levies. The board also approved the claims docket and the minutes of the Aug. 19, 2025 meeting and adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
