Selectboard OKs Arts Bus and memorial permits with parking and state-road caveats

The Brookfield selectboard approved two assemblage permits: a memorial service for Kit Gage on Sunday, July 26, and an Arts Bus event scheduled for Aug. 28–29 at Hippo Park, Sunset Lake and Old Town Hall. The Arts Bus application estimated 20–30 attendees on Friday and 100–150 on Saturday and requested permission to park the arts bus overnight adjacent to Tippel Park.
Board members approved the permits "with the conditions that we have added," specifying that parking must be limited to one side of town roads to preserve emergency access, volunteers and signs should manage parking, temporary flags and signs must be removed after the event, and any activities impacting the state highway or bridge must be coordinated with the VTrans district engineer. Michelle Redmond and a phone number (802-291-3938) were identified as a VTrans contact to assist the event organizers. One board member moved to accept both assemblage permits with these caveats and the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board clarified it cannot authorize parking on the state road or bridge work; organizers must obtain separate approvals from VTrans for any work or use of state infrastructure.
