The Town of Bristol Selectboard approved a $4,134,345.73 FY2027 town budget on Jan. 26, 2026. The motion, made by Michelle Perlee and seconded by Ian Albinson, passed with Joel Bouvier recorded as opposed.
Board members and staff said recent health-insurance savings reduced the budget pressure; those reductions were cited along with increased heating and energy costs and planned window replacements as drivers of the overall 8.51% increase shown in the proposed FY2027 budget. The board discussed reserve balances and agreed to replenish reserves to cover foreseeable needs; $20,000 was designated for upcoming building renovations rather than being held in the sidewalk repair reserve.
Kris Perlee, Assistant Town Clerk and Assistant Town Treasurer, advised that no single audit would be required this year after preliminary adjustments and savings. The board directed staff to develop a sidewalk repair schedule in coming months and noted plans to manage capital reserve balances to cover both building work and maintenance priorities.
The budget approval concludes the Selectboard's formal endorsement of the FY2027 spending plan; several reserve and capital planning items will be brought back to the board for implementation details and timelines.
