Bids open for Bristol West water-line project; town pursues lead-line replacement funding

VTM Engineering reported that the Bristol West (Phase 2) water-line project has been released for bidding, with more than a dozen contractors requesting specifications. Steve Palmer said a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Jan. 22 and bids are due Feb. 12, leaving the possibility of a contractor recommendation by late February or early March.
"It would be best to have any event dates or other limitations that need to be worked around outlined before bids are due," Palmer said, citing potential cost impacts if contractors cannot access work areas during scheduled events around the green. Jill Marsano (VTUMS) added that the project team is pursuing leftover funds from a Lead Line Replacement Program that could subsidize around 50% of lead or galvanized service-line replacements, while noting that required archaeology and environmental work could significantly increase per-line costs.
