Clerk reading the docket noted the grant will be administered in collaboration with Boston Public Schools; the chair referred docket 1391 to the Committee on Labor and Economic Development. Later in the meeting, Councilor Flynn filed a hearing order to discuss expanding access to skilled-trades careers in the city, saying, "Skilled trade jobs encompass a broad range of fields including mechanics, electrical, construction, plumbing." Flynn urged the council to explore how vocational pathways and partnerships with labor could expand opportunities for students.
Councilors said the initiative complements proposed city appropriations for Madison Park Technical Vocational High School planning and other workforce-aligned investments, and the hearing was referred to the Committee on Labor and Economic Development for follow-up.
