Commissioner Richard L. Jones, Jr. told colleagues he has observed several near-accidents involving electric scooters and urged the Commission to consider regulatory changes to improve safety and compliance with traffic laws. Jones requested that staff research applicable regulations and potential enforcement or licensing options.
City Manager Ian Hutcheson responded that the Sterling Police Department and the City Attorney have been researching relevant regulations and are developing policy recommendations for the Commission to review at a future meeting.
