Resident says he was 'targeted' after being banned from town lake; board defers review

Jerry Grimes addressed the board about being banned from the town lake and disputed how the ban was imposed.
"I feel like I was targeted, singled out, and picked on due to the fact I was outside the guardrail when all this took place," Grimes said, recounting an encounter in which he pushed back after being poked by another person near the lake. He said he understood the town had posted a new dusk-to-dawn sign but that he had previously been told the lake was open until 10:00 p.m.
A board member advised the resident to postpone the appeal until all three board members could be present. "It would be up to the board to decide whether or not you wanted to, give, you know, mister Grimes the right to review his no trespass," a member said, and the official added that the town's decision remained in place until the board formally reconsiders.
Officials confirmed dispatch was called and said they typically also send written notice in these cases; Grimes said he had not received written notice before attending the meeting. The board did not reverse the no-trespass at the session and encouraged Grimes to return next month when full membership would be available to consider his appeal.
