Residents urge Selectboard to delay Building Commissioner appointment and form historic building committee

During unscheduled public comment at the March 4 meeting, resident Dan Towler told the board that the Historic Round Schoolhouse Committee has not produced agendas or minutes in more than two years and recommended defining the Building Commissioner role and postponing the appointment until the town determines how its buildings will be used. Towler also urged delaying further work on the Brookline Meetinghouse until a coordinated plan is in place.
Resident Alyssa Schmidt asked whether the Energy Committee remains active and expressed concern about disagreements involving the Building Commissioner. Schmidt suggested forming a historic building committee to oversee both the Meetinghouse and the Round Schoolhouse so that residents and officials can work together on renovation plans.
The minutes record those recommendations but show the board moved forward with appointments, including naming Bruce Mello as Building Commissioner and establishing committees for the Meeting House and Round Schoolhouse.
