Traffic advisory proposals discussed; resident raises concern over unpainted yellow line

The Traffic Advisory Committee presented several proposals to councilors for improving neighborhood safety. Committee items discussed included adding a speed bump on Thomas Ave. to discourage cut-through traffic, possibly lowering residential speed limits to 15 mph (including Cimarron Rd. behind Mother Goose Land), and adding stop signs at each intersection on Franklin St. Councilors requested further study and deliberation before enacting regulatory changes.
During public comment, resident Dennis Dutchess asked why the yellow line on Illinois Ave. bordering the park has not been painted; PW Supervisor Taylor Keith responded that "the equipment needed is broken" and advised using an alternate route until the line can be repainted. Jennifer Robinson also raised a separate concern that someone is killing pigeons near her property; she said she is coordinating with Chief Godwin on that matter. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
