Board moves to re-evaluate cemetery fees, considers doubling plot price

Village Administrator Curt Erickson told the Board the Village's cemetery fees had not been reviewed or increased for several years and recommended updating fees to reflect maintenance costs.
Erickson presented current and proposed fees: current grave plot fee $650 and a contemplated increase to $1,300; columbarium fees proposed to increase from $900 to $1,500; and grave-locating/marking fees proposed to increase from $50 to $100. Board members asked for additional information on the number of plots remaining and suggested exploring a mausoleum wall or columbarium as revenue options. Motion by Justin Martinez, second by Allison Lindorfer to re-evaluate the fees potentially by December 2026 and approve Resolution 2026-04; the motion carried unanimously.
The Board noted that the plot fee is a one-time purchase and does not substitute for ongoing maintenance responsibilities. Erickson said the Village may issue a Request for Proposals to evaluate contracting cemetery maintenance services.
