Board approves consent agenda, appoints new fire chief

The Village of Franklin Park Board of Trustees approved its consent agenda and confirmed a new fire chief at the June 1 meeting.
Clerk April J. Arellano read consent items that included approval of the May 18 minutes and a voucher expenditures list totaling $2,348,841.56. The consent package also included Resolution No. 2627, consenting to a Class 7C real property tax incentive for rehabilitation of 9651 Franklin Avenue; Ordinance No. 2627 VC amending Article G of Chapter Five of Title One of the Village Code; and procurement actions including electrical work for the Grand Avenue Green Stormwater Infrastructure Project in an amount not to exceed $667,917.25, a Phase One engineering proposal for the Access to Transit Bike Accommodations project not to exceed $65,160.00, and a $2,256.00 contract with Joliet Tent Company for the July Fourth event.
Trustee John Johnson moved to approve the consent agenda and Trustee Gilbert Hagerstrom seconded. Roll call recorded ayes from Trustees Special, Johnson, Ruhl, Avitia and Hagerstrom; there were no nays and no absences. Trustee Andres 'Andy' Ybarra abstained. The motion passed.
On a separate motion, the Board voted to appoint Lucas Palermo as Franklin Park Fire Chief; the motion was made by Hagerstrom and seconded by Avitia. Clerk Arellano administered the oath of office to Palermo. The roll call for the appointment recorded the same pattern of votes with Trustee Ybarra again abstaining.
No items were removed from the consent agenda for separate discussion. The meeting record shows no formal challenges to the approvals during the session.
