Chair John Kellogg told the Town of Charleston Planning Commission on Sept. 12 that NEK Broadband has merged with CVFiber to expand its service footprint.
Kellogg said the merger, which took place in August, increases NEK Broadband’s reach to a total of 71 adjacent cities and towns and is expected to bring additional customers, infrastructure capacity and stronger access to state and federal funding as the project is implemented over the coming months. He framed the change as an operational and funding opportunity rather than a completed local deployment timetable.
The update was provided during the meeting convened at 5:33 p.m.; commissioners present included John Kellogg, Tom Wagner, Peter Moskovites and Terry Rollins. No formal vote was taken on broadband at the Sept. 12 meeting.
