Board eyes regional grants and possible Tri County panel for summit

Board members noted recent grant activity in neighboring counties and discussed local opportunities to secure planning funds. Dom Schwartz said he had “got 0.5 dozen to a dozen articles out of the newspaper on everybody's applied for grants for the new rail trail” and suggested the board examine how neighboring jurisdictions structured projects and funding.
Members discussed inviting Tri County as a summit participant and possibly asking a state public-access representative to attend to advise on property access. The plan is to confirm invitations after the August 5 planning meeting and to include relevant partners on panels at the Sept. 23 summit.
