Select Board sets polling places and early-voting schedule; clerk explains new ballot-color rule

The Oak Bluffs Select Board on July 14 approved the Public Library meeting room as a polling location for the State Primary (Sept. 1) and State Election (Nov. 3) and adopted detailed early-voting hours for both elections. The board also assigned one police officer to serve at polling places across 2026 (with the chief given authority to assign specific officers) and appointed multiple election workers, including Cameron Naron as a warden.
Town Clerk Del Torto told the board that "under Chapter 53, section 33 requires that primary ballots for each party be different colors effective this year," and listed the colors to be used for each party and absentee ballots. The clerk said the change is intended to reduce voter confusion when distributing ballots. The board voted to approve the scheduling, locations and worker appointments without recorded opposition.
The board also approved a schedule of early-voting dates spanning August and October for the primary and general elections, noting last days to register and hours for in-person early voting.
