Cemetery mapping advances; committee to use $400 stipend for school outreach

A cemetery committee member reported that a contractor completed scanning deeds and photographing headstones at the town cemetery and Overlook Cemetery on Aug. 7–8, and that the documentation and aerial photos are now being assembled for an online mapping project. The committee member said the project will replace aging maps and standardize records.
"He scanned all the deeds and all the documents that had anything to do with the cemetery," the committee member said. The committee member told the board that a website preview had been approved and that they expected the site and database to be operational by November or December. The board approved a $400 stipend request to support school-based outreach tied to the project.
