Whitpain honors first responders for April choking rescue

Chair Scott M. Badami opened the June 16 meeting by presenting a "Mission Moment" recognizing the coordinated April rescue at El Sarape restaurant that resulted in a life being saved.
Police Chief Kenneth Lawson and Deputy Chief Ken Davidson of Second Alarmers described the incident, emphasizing the effectiveness of the township’s tiered emergency response and interagency teamwork. The Board formally commended responders including Second Alarmers Rescue Squad Paramedic Karl Stockton and EMT Charlene Taylor; Whitpain Township Police Officers Seth Homan and Robert Nolan; and Centre Square Company firefighters Steve Kindred, James McFadden, Ryan Thomas, Ryan Keys and John Smith.
Chief Lawson credited training, staffing and equipment supported by the township for the successful outcome. The Board said it will continue to prioritize public safety and acknowledged the responders' professionalism.
