Commission on Aging seeks streamlined rules to keep older Idahoans at home

Judy Taylor, director of the Idaho Commission on Aging, told the Senate Health and Welfare Committee the commission’s proposed rule changes aim to simplify language and remove duplicative requirements so the agency can better support older Idahoans who remain in their homes.
Taylor said the package includes a rewrite of rules governing senior centers and Older Americans Act programs and a repeal of an area-agency chapter that was redundant with federal regulation and contract terms. She cited statutory authority and Governor Little’s executive order directing zero-based regulation work as context for the edits. "These chapters were fully negotiated and we received no negative feedback or concerns from stakeholders," she said. The committee moved and carried the dockets on voice votes; Director Taylor thanked the committee and stood for questions.
