Sam Solaris took the oath of office at the start of the Jan. 13 City of Montrose council meeting and was congratulated by colleagues. "I will faithfully justly and impartially discharge the duties of the office of mayor," Solaris said while reciting the mayoral oath.
The swearing-in was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and routine agenda business. Council approved the meeting agenda and consent items by unanimous vote later in the session. The meeting continued with reports from the sheriff's office, the fire department and Parks & Recreation, and with several resolutions on the docket.
