Council OKs MnDOT agreement, hears $355,400 pay request for Highway 12 water main

City engineering staff summarized routine items in a cooperative agreement with MnDOT for the Highway 12 project, including replacement of a pedestrian flasher, signal-system work at Trunk Highway 25 and certain ADA sidewalk improvements. The engineer advised the council the city will own and operate new lighting and will be responsible for operating and maintenance costs associated with the signal; staff estimated the city’s participation around $305,000. The council adopted resolution 2024-36 to enter into the cooperative agreement with MnDOT by unanimous vote.
Separately, the council approved pay application #1 for the Highway 12 water-main replacement in the amount of $355,400.51 with a remaining retainage of $18,705.29; staff said work is complete and that a two-year warranty period applies to the installation. Council also approved pay applications for the 2024 street-improvement project and the final pay application for the Pheasant Hills drainage improvement project by unanimous votes during the engineering report.
