Cemetery committee raises safety concerns about trees and fence; board to contact neighboring owner

Members of the Cemetery Committee reported trees near the cemetery have already fallen and that additional large trees pose an ongoing risk to graves and visitors. Speaker 2 asked the board to pursue tree removal and noted the fence line defines the cemetery property line; board members agreed staff should reach out to the neighboring owner, Joe Rollins, to express the town's concerns.
Clerk (Speaker 4) reminded the group that while the cemetery committee makes recommendations, the Select Board has ultimate authority over town-owned cemetery property and can send a formal letter to the neighbor. The board agreed to have staff inspect the trees and provide recommendations at the next meeting.
