Select board adopts overnight-parking ban on town-owned property

Committee member S3 presented a short amendment to the town's traffic ordinance making it unlawful to park overnight on town-owned parking lots or rights-of-way, with an exception for on-duty town employees. "Shall be no overnight parking on town owned properties... with the exception of on duty town employees," S3 read into the record as the language proposed for adoption.
S3 explained the adoption process: the amendment will be posted and if no petition signed by 5% of voters is filed by the Jan. 16 deadline, the amendment will take effect on Feb. 2. "If nobody does that, then the the ordinance, this amendment goes into effect on February 2," S3 said. The board voted 4-0 to adopt the amendment.
