Mel Harmon, outreach manager and youth-team member for Rivers of Hope, told council that the agency provides advocacy, education and interagency collaboration to assist survivors of family violence and said local usage is measurable but the need persists.
“In 2023, specific to Montrose, we served 13 adults and 5 youth,” Harmon said. She added that, since Jan. 1 in combined Wright and Sherburne counties, the agency has served 306 adults and 126 youth and is seeing record participation in its youth program. Harmon asked council and community members to spread the word about free services and highlighted upcoming fundraising events, including a color run, a Top Golf fundraiser in October and an April gala.
Council thanked Rivers of Hope for its outreach and agreed to display informational flyers and links at city events and on the city’s commission table.
