Montrose council awards $251,365 street-improvement contract, approves $10,997 drainage payment

The City of Montrose council on Aug. 12 approved awarding the Schedules B and D portions of the 24th Street Improvement Project to GMH Asphalt of Chaska, Minnesota, for $251,365.40 and approved a final pay estimate of $10,997.50 for the Bridal Lane drainage project.
City engineer Jared told the council, “GMH Asphalt out of Chaska, Minnesota is the low bidder, and for schedules b and d, that total amount is $251,365.40.” The council voted 5-0 to adopt Resolution 2024-26 to award the project and later approved Resolution 2024-27 to execute the petition-and-waiver process for assessments tied to private roads.
The Bridal Lane drainage project, which Jared said has been completed, received a separate final-pay recommendation. The council approved the $10,997.50 payment by unanimous vote. Jared also warned of a separate storm-sewer failure in Lemerman Industrial Park that staff is soliciting quotes to repair and will share prices with council at a workshop scheduled for Aug. 19.
Next steps: engineering will finalize contractor paperwork and return to the council with contract execution items and any assessment notices related to Schedule D property owners. The storm-sewer repair will be brought back for council consideration when quotes are available.
