Commissioners questioned whether the proposed station alerting was limited to Station 6 or countywide; Brooke introduced Mackenzie Ezell of LDC FM to respond. Mackenzie said the 2028 proposal would include "Station 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 within the city, also Station 6, Station 11, and Station 12, so Eudora and Baldwin," and described the operational change: alerts can be room-specific so a medic on call is alerted without waking an entire station.
Mackenzie explained the current system dates to about 2013–2014 and that the health and safety committee recommended upgrades. She said room-level alerting can reduce unnecessary awakenings for personnel and align with health-and-safety recommendations; staff said the project was unfunded in the past, was returned to the CIP this year and would have startup costs in 2026 with construction payments beginning in 2027.
