County details courthouse, public-safety and juvenile center projects in facilities plan

Brooke, the county finance manager, outlined recent and planned facilities work including the courthouse revision and expansion, the near-complete public safety building that now houses the 9‑1‑1 center, emergency management and the Sheriff’s office, and the historic courthouse stonework restoration (above-grade masonry and below-grade waterproofing). "The courthouse revision and expansion project continues to progress... and the public safety building is nearing completion at this time," Brooke said.
She also noted planned 2028–2029 projects such as JLEC window replacement, a historic courthouse window improvement coordinated with the sustainability department and an energy audit, and work on the historic courthouse basement including a full remodel and electrical upgrades. Brooke told commissioners the county completed several facility projects recently (public works HVAC replacement, a Treasurer’s 6th Street satellite office remodel and multiple parking-lot replacements) and will scope additional projects into the CIP.
