Board adopts revised staff–student boundaries and communication policy to meet Sept. 1 mandate

On second reading the board adopted board policy 5.24 (staff–student professional boundaries, communication and misconduct reporting). Speaker 4 summarized the purpose: to consolidate and standardize how coaches and advisors interact with students and ensure staff and student safety. Administration said the policy is required by Sept. 1 and that training materials are expected from the Department of Public Instruction.
"The policy is a mandate that needs to be in place by September 1," speaker 4 said. Board members moved and seconded the policy and approved it by voice vote. Administration said staff training will follow once DPI releases the formal training materials.
