Board approves 2026–27 student academic standards aligned with Wisconsin guidance

The Amery School District board voted to approve the district's 2026–27 student academic standards after a presentation from curriculum coordinator D'Ambrosia (speaker 7) outlining how district curriculum will align with Wisconsin Stat. 118.301 and state model standards for English language arts, mathematics, science (NGSS) and social studies (C3). D'Ambrosia described a three-phase implementation framework: understanding the standards, selecting aligned curricula and materials, and monitoring instruction and assessment.
"Academic standards ensure that all students have access to high quality, equitable education," D'Ambrosia said. During discussion board members asked about national versus state-led standards and confirmed the district would continue to pilot and compare curricula to ensure alignment. The board moved, seconded and approved the standards for the coming school year.
