Council adopts new Florida Parishes Arena fees despite public opposition

The Tangipahoa Parish Council on Oct. 14 adopted T.P. Ordinance No. 25-26 to amend and enact operating fees for the Florida Parishes Arena and Event Center. Councilmember Darrell Sinagra, who moved the ordinance to final passage, said he felt "the compromised fees are fair." The motion passed on a roll-call vote with one member absent.
Councilman Joseph Havis noted the committee that revised the fees "built in ways for producers to make a profit with stalls, RV’s, etc.," and Parish President Miller told the public that "the events that are already booked for next year are locked in at the 2025 rates" and staff can work with producers on day-before access. During the public hearing Troy Crain of 3DOTS Cow Sorting spoke in opposition to the price increase, saying the fees would make it harder to hold events at the parish arena. The ordinance had been introduced previously and was published on the parish website prior to final adoption.
