Committee approves Business Enterprise Program rule rewrite to streamline vendor rules

Arianna Ruzovich, Business Enterprise Program Specialist with the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, told the Senate Health and Welfare Committee that the Business Enterprise Program provides remunerative employment opportunities through vending facilities, cafes and micro markets across government properties. She said the program has grown from two facilities to more than 100 vending facilities, five micro markets and four cafeterias and that stakeholders and the ICBVI board approved the revised rules before federal Rehabilitation Services Administration review.
"The blind vendors in Idaho have voted and approved these rules," Ruzovich said when she asked the committee to approve the pending rules. The committee adopted docket 15-0230-2401 on a voice vote; the adoptive motion was moved by Senator Wintrow and seconded by Senator Blalock. DOPL staff recorded no public objections in the rulemaking process.
