Council seeks estimates to treat overgrowth in town lakes and disputes PlantWell invoice

Mayor Russ Nidy told the council that he met with Gary Wilhelm of Solitude Lake Management, who recommended removing cattails and spatterdock and provided an assessment of heavy vegetation — particularly the horseshoe around the island in Gem Lake, mainly on the Glen Ridge side. Wilhelm will supply estimates for initial treatment and separate maintenance contracts for each lake.
Separately, the town is disputing a $2,100 charge from PlantWell for trimming two Sylvester palms, removing five dead palms and vegetation removal at The Preserve. Vice Mayor Marion Chateau-Flagg and staff said the fee was not mentioned during their meeting with PlantWell and Mayor Nidy and the Clerk will request a meeting with Jared, owner of PlantWell, to resolve the discrepancy.
