DPW budget adds full-time groundskeeper and funds for winter sand processing

Article 11, read by the Chair, outlined the Department of Public Works operating budget, including lease payments for heavy equipment (Grader and Loader — this is the final year of loader payments). The Selectboard added a full‑time groundskeeper position formerly provided by contract and shifted expenses to reflect that change in the General Government Buildings line.
Board members also added funding for materials processing for winter sand. Because of numerous small winter storms this season, DPW had used more than half of next year’s sand supply as of early February; the Board included processing funds to replenish and prepare sand for use over the next two years. DPW Director Morris participated in a technical exchange about chip seal and maintenance priorities during the hearing.
