Greenfield Selectboard closes public budget hearing and advances 2026 warrant

The Greenfield Selectboard opened a public budget hearing at the Greenfield Meeting House on Feb. 4, 2026, read the town warrant aloud and accepted public comment on individual articles before closing the statutory hearing.
Chair Tom Bascom led the reading of monetary and non‑monetary warrant items, including budget articles for the Recycling Center, Fire and Police departments, public works and library. Residents posed questions about the Used Oil Collection Grant and the proposed paving options. The statutory portion of the hearing concluded with the Chair thanking the audience; the Board recessed back to a Selectmen’s work session and later voted to approve the consent agenda and adjourn.
The meeting record shows the Board reviewed an Accounts Payable Check Register dated Feb. 4, 2026, for $341,832.96 among documents presented at the start of the session. The hearing covered both monetary items (Articles 2–16) and non‑monetary tax-exemption and credit language (Articles 17–23). The Board indicated Article 12 (paving vs. a Paving & Infrastructure CRF) would be presented in both forms at Town Meeting, with the CRF to be funded from fund balance.
