The Building & Grounds Committee approved installing a solar-powered, flashing crosswalk sign at the Gascoigne crossing of Pewaukee Road and directed staff to update and add advance signage. Greg said Ayers Associates observed some signs were cracked, damaged or faded and that there was no northbound 'pedestrian crossing ahead' advance sign; the firm recommended replacing existing signs and adding new advance signs now and, if warranted, installing flashing signs after pedestrian counts in mid-May.
Committee members discussed the location—s use since the Kwik Trip opened and expressed concern about pedestrian safety. Greg gave a preliminary cost range and said staff would provide a more accurate price later: "I believe they're around, like, 1,200 or so," he said. The committee voted to use special fund dollars for the installation; Greg reported the special fund balance remains $10,000.
