He said, “We have around 40 active students right now from the area or have moved to the area for the career builders program,” and outlined ideas such as short-term lease options for interns and a potential builder-buyer incentive program.
Ashford also summarized business-assistance activity: in 2025 the office approved about $200,000 in loans and leveraged nearly $2,000,000 in private investment; he attributed much of the lending to flexible interest buy-down programs with the Bank of North Dakota. Commissioners asked for quarterly engagement with the economic development director going forward to keep officials informed.
