Resident urges monthly 7 p.m. public comment sessions to increase youth participation

Delgado said Wednesday 10 a.m. meetings exclude many younger people who work or attend school and suggested a compromise to reduce staffing costs: hold a monthly 7 p.m. session solely for public comment and cancel future evening sessions if fewer than 10 people attend. “7PM on Wednesday is not a sufficient time for public involvement,” Delgado said, arguing that a periodic evening option would improve civic access while limiting overtime costs.
She also praised the commissioners’ work on veterans’ services and said she planned to continue attending. The board heard the suggestion during the public-participation portion of the meeting and did not take immediate action other than to register the request for future consideration.
