Council passes first reading of redundant flood-ordinance provision (Ord. 163)

On Nov. 14 the Cloud Lake Town Council passed Ordinance No. 163 on first reading to amend Chapter 4 of the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance.
Town Attorney William P. Doney read the ordinance by title and advised that the provisions covered in the proposed amendment already appear in the Florida Building Code and therefore may be redundant in the town ordinance. Council Member Alexandra Powell-Sardinas moved to pass Ord. 163 on first reading; Council Member Kathleen Hoock seconded and the motion passed 4-0 with one member absent. The council will proceed with the normal ordinance-adoption process, keeping in mind the attorney's observation about potential redundancy with the building code.
