Council approves first reading of flood-ordinance changes required by FEMA

The Cloud Lake Town Council passed Ordinance No. 162 on first reading on Nov. 14 to amend Chapter 12 of the town flood ordinance to conform with FEMA changes that take effect Dec. 5, 2024.
Town Attorney William P. Doney read the ordinance by title and explained the amendments are required by FEMA. Council Member Alexandra Powell-Sardinas moved to pass the ordinance on first reading; Council Member Kathleen Hoock seconded and the motion passed 4-0 with one member absent. The ordinance is scheduled for subsequent readings and will return for the council's further action as required by local ordinance-adoption procedures.
