Talking Book Service Program Supervisor LeAnn Gelskey presented results of a statewide patron survey and said respondents complimented Idaho TBS customer service while requesting more current titles, additional Spanish-language books, audio effects and music for recordings, improved functionality of the BARD app, and faster delivery of physical books and cartridges.
Gelskey said some suggestions—such as changes to national recording standards or distribution practices—would need to be addressed by the National Library Service (NLS), and she is sharing the survey information with the ICfL’s NLS liaison. Commissioner Norma Staaf noted an increase in respondents reporting they heard Idaho TBS advertising on radio and television, and Gelskey said staff have focused on researching and tracking marketing activities. The board recorded the survey as an information item; no board action was required.
