Council approves consent calendar and grants business license after Vortex Lawn Care door-hanger complaint

The Preston City Council approved its consent calendar (minutes of Jan. 26, 2026; bills through Feb. 9, 2026; Treasurer’s report dated Jan. 31, 2026) by unanimous vote.
Director of City Planning and Land Use Shawn Oliverson told the council that door hangers distributed by Vortex Lawn Care raised resident concerns and that the company did not have a Preston City business license. Attorney Lyle Fuller was instructed to notify owner Maggie Jackson; Oliverson reported that Jackson provided "a letter of explanation with an apology" and submitted a city business license application. The council then approved a Preston City business license for Vortex Lawn Care at 341 South 2nd East for Maggie Jackson (motion passed unanimously).
