Youth services grants open; capital projects will reach about 136,000 residents

Development Services Program Supervisor Talela Florko told commissioners the Youth Services team hosted a three‑day Summer Summit with about 60 attendees from across the state and that grant applications will open in August 2024 for Bucks for Books ($50,000) and Kindergarten Readiness ($100,000).
Florko said the agency submitted its annual Capital Projects Fund report to the U.S. Department of the Treasury and that once 15 library capital projects are complete they will affect an estimated total population of about 136,000. She also noted near‑completion on smaller projects and ongoing progress on larger projects funded in prior fiscal years.
